Create a suitable asset allocation for a portfolio

Risk Profiling

Re-establishing capacity for loss/investment experience

A risk profile is an evaluation of an individual's willingness and ability to take on investment risk. Determining your risk profile is an important factor in creating a suitable asset allocation for a portfolio. When assessing your risk profile, we will consider the following:

  • Investment experience - the level of investment experience you have will be reflected in the level of risk that you take with your investments.

  • Attitude to risk - here, we look to see the level of risk you are willing to take when choosing investments to reach your goal. Part of this process includes completing a risk profile questionnaire and then you will discuss this in more detail with your adviser. We will then select a risk profile from 1-10.

  • Capacity for loss – this is a more scientific measurement, and it assesses the factual information in relation to your financial circumstances. Assessing your capacity for loss brings clarity as to your ability to absorb a loss in value and whether or not it will affect your standard of living.

Once we have established your risk profile, we will recommend an investment strategy that fits your profile exactly.
